AMA Citation Style

Overview of using AMA to format citations

Internet Sources/Website Citation Formats

Website/Internet sources can be difficult to cite because not all the information may be available to the user.

  • The general rule is to include as much information at possible.
  • If no specific author, use the name of the organization responsible for site.
  • Always include the website address/URL and verify site is available as close as possible to submission/publication.
  • Remove formatting from an Internet address after adding to document by highlighting and right-clicking the mouse and selecting "remove hyperlink" or use the backspace key after inserting to remove formatting.

Author A. Title of specific item cited. Name of Web site. http://xxxxx Published Date. Updated Date. Accessed Date.
